The Local Government Association (LGA) has launched a new transformation programme to support innovation in local government.
The programme is part of LGA's sector support offer and includes a number of tools, resources and development opportunities to help local authorities deliver their transformation priorities.
The programme has been divided into three streams: peer support, involving guidance on transformation from one council to another; learning and skills through a series of masterclasses; and workshops on evidence-based transformation methods.
Local government officials involved in innovation can also apply to be a member of the Transformation Network and attend future meetings on transformation. Additionally, they can join the Behaviour Change Leads Group (BCLG) to discuss behavioural transformation insights.
Crucially, the programme will allow members access to a database of transformation case studies to inform their future projects.
Cllr Abi Brown, Chairman of the LGA’s Improvement and Innovation Board, said the initiative will provide councils with the tools and resources they need to achieve their transformation goals. “Councils are already undertaking transformation to fundamentally change their systems, processes and skills to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and resident satisfaction."
She continued: “The transformation programme is a major new component of our newly launched sector support offer, which will further help councils to drive forward change and improvement, in delivering vital local services to their communities.”
