Government Transformation Week - 'mission-driven'

Written by James | Aug 1, 2024 6:51:19 AM

Government Transformation Week (4-7 November) brings together the world's biggest free schedule of public sector transformation content - across six stages, a variety of formats, with the latest thinking from the UK government leaders, and their global peers... but first, let's talk about money - and timing.

The Budget

We called the election date, and we nailed the Budget timing too - now confirmed for 30th October, and the ideal backdrop for Government Transformation Week the following week.

As President Biden once said "show me your budget, and I'll tell you your priorities" - so it is only in November, following the Budget, that the Civil Service, local government and the wider public sector, will really know what their priorities are - and the resources they have available for addressing them.

Pop Quiz: Where will you be when your public sector colleagues are at Government Transformation Week? ๐Ÿ‘€

Computacenter, Vouchsafe join us in the big tent

We're delighted to welcome two new exhibitors as part of Government Transformation Expo (the single biggest event within Government Transformation Week): Computacenter and Vouchsafe.

The first needs little by way of introduction - Hertfordshire-based Computacenter employs over 6,000 people in the UK, contributing to its position as one of the largest IT services providers in the country. It has over 30 yearsโ€™ experience working with the public sector, with expertise across cloud and data centre, to networking, security and the digital workplace.

At the other end of the scale - Vouchsafe will be exhibiting in Innovation Alley, our launchpad for social enterprises and CivTech start-ups to showcase their new ideas, and build partnerships with opportunity-oriented public sector teams. Established by former civil servants, they've got a great new approach to authenticating users who don't have passports, driving licences, or other forms of recognised ID.

There are some more exciting names confirming next week ... watch this space, but for now my lips are sealed.

"Mission-Driven"?  ๐Ÿ‘€

Everyone's talking about it - but what does "Mission-Driven Government" really mean? The Government is seeking to tackle long-term challenges by setting clear, ambitious, and measurable goals.

This approach is intended to shift focus from short-term fixes to a strategic plan that brings together government departments, businesses, trade unions, and civil society to work towards shared objectives.

Central to this vision is the need to harness ideas and expertise from across the public sector, while also being mindful of international best practice - and that's where Government Transformation Week comes in.

With over 250 experts - from government, academia and industry, both here in the UK and from overseas - across six stages focused on our three pillars of Operational Transformation, Government Data & AI, and Citizen Experience ... Government Transformation Week is  the largest free-to-attend DDaT agenda ever put together for the public sector in the UK

If you'd like to be a part of it, then we'd like you to be a part of it - so let's talk.
