The Office for Artificial Intelligence yesterday announced that the UK had become a founding signatory to the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI).
The Office for Artificial Intelligence is a joint BEIS-DCMS unit responsible for overseeing implementation of the AI and Data Grand Challenge.
The GPAI grouping has been established by 14 countries to support “the responsible and human-centric development and use of AI, in a manner consistent with human rights, fundamental freedoms, and shared democratic values”.
It builds upon OECD’s previous Recommendation on AI and will be based at the OECD Secretariat in France.
Key areas of focus
The new grouping aims to bring together leading experts from industry, civil society, governments, and academia to collaborate across four Working Group themes:
1. Responsible AI
2. Data governance
3. The future of work
4. Innovation and commercialisation
