Totalmobile appoints exec to head up dedicated public sector unit
Totalmobile, a big Field Service Management Software (FSM) company, today announced Chris Hornung as Managing Director of its Public Sector business.
The company delivered a groundbreaking field service project for the Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) first UK digital census in 2021.
The new business unit will help the public sector address sector-specific challenges including an increase in demand for services post-Covid, meeting sustainability targets and data security.
Hornung brings four years of experience at Totalmobile as Chief Operating Officer, and over twenty years of experience in the technology sector, working with companies such as Orange and Achilles Group.
Public sector is the largest sector for the business by revenue. Hornung will oversee the set up of the business unit and be responsible for many of the company’s longest-standing and largest customers.
"Even with recently announced Government support for some public sector services, it’s fair to say that the sector is being squeezed like never before," said Hornung. "We want to be able to further optimise our services and products to help our customers tackle these challenges head-on. An ever-increasing demand for services, especially in the wake of Covid, means that different ways of thinking are needed. We can help organisations by increasing capacity and service provisions, allowing our customers to do more with the same resources."
Hornung’s new role will see him coordinate product and service development specific to the public sector and its sub sectors: central government, local government, emergency services and health and social care. Having a greater focus on these areas is intended to enable more streamlined and personalised services and products for customers in the public sector, ultimately allowing Totalmobile to deliver services in greater capacity and create an overall better experience for the end-users.
The reshuffle signifies a new era for the company as they realign their business strategy to reflect the core markets in which they operate.
According to Totalmobile CEO, Jim Darragh the company's public sector business is now at the size where it requires a higher level of focus. The aim of this new approach is to provide more specialised and vertically differentiated products and services to our customers.
"Our new focus will allow our teams to focus on acquiring deep vertical knowledge as opposed to generic capabilities and become more aware of the challenges and opportunities facing their market," said Darragh.
