Chris Bellamy“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to lead GDS and our mission to design and deliver the user experience of digital government,” Bellamy commented on her appointment. “Millions of people use our products every week, and we remain committed to working across government and the wider public sector to deliver joined-up, active, secure digital services that are better for users and cheaper for the taxpayer.”

The announcement comes at a time of major machinery of government changes - with GDS moving to form part of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology alongside the Incubator for AI and the Central Digital and Data Office.

Before joining the Civil Service in 2022, Bellamy held a number of roles leading digital transformation and delivery at the BBC. Prior to this, she was a Managing Director at Johnston Media.

Bellamy is also a member of Government Transformation Magazine's Advisory Board, supporting our mission to enable transformational government outcomes across the UK public sector.

“It’s a privilege to be appointed to lead the Government Digital Service. GDS is right at the heart of delivering truly user centric, trusted digital services that are simple, clear and fast. Exciting times ahead.”
