Craig Suckling will be taking on the role of Government Chief Data Officer, joining the team at the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO), in March
Suckling joins from Amazon Web Services where he was Head of Data Strategy. He will take on responsibility for shaping and overseeing government’s data strategy and policy, building on the foundations of the National Data Strategy and Digital and Data roadmap.
The new CDO will work closely with data specialists and stakeholders across central government department to help break down barriers to data sharing, reporting to CDDO chief executive Megan Lee Devlin.
“I am excited and honoured to be joining the CDDO shortly as the UK Government Chief Data Officer. The potential for data and AI to transform how government adds value to our UK citizens, industries, and the communities we live and work in is vast,” Suckling said in a statement.
“We are in a moment of unprecedented discontinuous change with data and AI, and we need to move fast. I look forward to getting stuck in.”
