The move will see the council replace its legacy mapping system with an integrated GIS platform designed to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve access to location-based data for both staff and residents.

As part of its technology review, Croydon Council identified the need for a resilient, supported, and fit-for-purpose platform to underpin its digital services. The transition to cloud-based GIS will allow the council to:
  • Unify spatial data into a centralised system, eliminating information silos.
  • Improve user access with interactive maps across departments.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making with advanced location intelligence tools.

Jon Martin, Head of Specialist Systems at Croydon Council, commented:“Cadcorp's comprehensive offering and experience in local government will assist us on our journey to build a solid GIS foundation and drive cost efficiencies.”

The new system will initially be deployed across key departments before being expanded to other areas of the council. Additionally, Cadcorp SIS WebMap for Power BI will integrate interactive mapping within Microsoft Power BI, enabling users to gain deeper insights from spatial data.

This investment aligns with Croydon Council’s digital transformation goals, particularly in enhancing public access to mapping tools for better service navigation, supporting local decision-making through improved data accuracy, and reducing operational costs by leveraging cloud technology.
